Hort Club's Mom's Day Flower Show 2006

Last year, the highlight of the Hort Club Mom's Dad Flower Show was that the whole event was dedicated to Dad. This year, it was dedicated to Margaret! It was just as exciting, but slightly different; for starters, since Margaret is a more perceptive person, she was able to work out what was going on ahead of time... I again showed up and took a lot of pictures of the event, and this year I even bought a bunch of stuff. Oh, home ownership...

Images
Hort Club Flower Show
I figured it'd be worthwhile to get a picture of the sign this year.
Tissue Culture
Since the event was dedicated to Margaret, a special exhibit had to be created showing off her specialty - cloning through tissue culture.
Peter Rabbit's House
The first display that I saw when I came in, though the angle was bad.
Hogwarts
This year's theme was "fantasy stories", and Harry Potter counted.
Audrey II
From Little Shop of Horrors, it was a nice set of paper maché.
Junk Pile
I don't know where this was from.
Signing the Poster
Everybody that knew Margaret had to sign the poster properly.
Early Visitors
The place wasn't supposed to open for an hour, but lots of people had already shown up.
The Guest of Honor Arrives
Margaret was there early; we don't know if she was really aware...
Mom
I don't think she really wanted to be awake yet, but she was happy to come for this.
Dad and Lori Kae
I don't see this kind of pose around Dad too often.
Dad Poses With Students
I always love how happy Dad looks with his students.
Before the Reveal
There's a sheet over the display, so nobody knows! Whoo!
Peter Rabbit
The costumes are always fun.
Waiting for the Reveal
The first large group of people...
Waiting for the Reveal, II
...and the second. Margaret really does have friends.
Opening Speeches
The current president of Hort Club started talking about the event overall.
Margaret's Response
She was certainly happy...
Margaret's Response, II
...and she looked surprised...
Margaret's Response, III
...so maybe she really was surprised. I dunno. I hope so.
Margaret Board
A full picture of the display.
Picture of Camera
She had her own camera; and I always love taking pictures of people taking pictures of me.
Handing Over Flowers
As an award, she gets...flowers? Okay.
Dad and the Flower Arrangement
I really have no idea why he had Margaret's arrangement.
Where The Wild Things Are
Always a worthwhile children's book.
Berenstein Bears
I had mostly forgotten about these bears before this point.
Field of Dreams
I really liked the costume here.
Hogwarts House
I guess this was supposed to be Hagrid's shack, actually.
An Owl
Hedwig, I guess?
Dad's Arrangement
As always, it's in a pickle jar.
Table of Arrangements
There were many winners in his category.
Fat Cat Statue
I should have bought that thing.
Peter Rabbit's House
Another shot of this interesting display.
Winning Flowers
There were a lot of award-winning arrangements this year.
Little Shop of Horrors
The aprons were a nice touch.
Dad's A Winner!
He was really excited to win his Third Place.
Dad's A Winner!, II
In fact, everybody knew how excited he was...
Dad's A Winner!, III
...since he was laughing so hard that the entire stock pavilion could hear him...
Hunny Pots
In the Winnie the Pooh section.
Margaret's Board, Again
I had to get a specific shot of it this time. Note: it's got a link to arrogantmentor.com, Margaret's web site!
Rows of Plants For Sale
We actually bought a few this year.
More Plants For Sale
And these are the backups!
Random Band
I'm not really sure how they fit into the equation. Are they for sale too?
At the Junk Heap
I think this was my favorite section.
Dad's Flower Arrangement
It won third place! Hooray!
Leafing Through the Pages
The Official Display of the event.
Full Display
The tissue culture part turned out a lot better.
Rabbit's House
No Tiggers!
Even More Plants For Sale
They make a good chunk of change during the event...
Beth and Mark
Plotting to organize our garden. Whee!
Harried Tim
Well, not too harried really, but the picture looks it.
Mark
I figured it was a good idea to get a decent shot of him specifically.
