Santa Cruz - 30 Nov 2007
Before I started my new job, Mom and I went down to Santa Cruz to see her old college roommate and my near-Aunt Debbie. It was a beautiful drive and a beautiful location; and I even got to see Erica for the first time in probably 10 years!

Images
Outside Debbie's House
The area around Debbie's house is really gorgeous.
Taking Riley for a Walk
This is where this happy dog gets to walk all the time...
Obama = Bucktooth Crackhead
Umm...yeah. I guess even nice areas have weirdos.
The Beach
This was, what, two blocks away?
More Beach
Definitely a gorgeous area.
Bird Rock
Apparently this is a nice seagull hangout.
Bird Rock, II
I don't know why I find this kind of thing amusing.
Bird Rock, III
It was an arch, which is officially neat, at least.
Nude Beach
At least it's reported to be. I wonder how many hits I'll get just for mentioning that?
Seagull and Beach
Okay, this is a nice picture.
Seagull and Beach, In Context
I need to take more nature pictures, so I can figure out how to label them.
Nearby Construction
Even in nice areas, you have to deal with hammering at all hours.
Happy Riley
He probably would have been happier without the leash, but it works.
Romping Riley
Playing in the plants was definitely a fun time.
Historical Marker
Or at least that's what I think it was.
Cliff
It's a beautiful thing to be just outside your house, eh?
Riley Wants To Go To The Nude Beach
But we weren't up to the climbing, or the rest of it.
Dog Regulations
"Dog owners must clean up their dog's defecation!"
Erica
She was essentially my cousin while I was growing up, and I hadn't seen her in a decade. It was really satisfying!
Darfur Fast
There's something weird about seeing a happy poster like this talking about genocide.
Sea Lions
You could hear the Sea Lions from miles away.
Sea Lions
They hung out on the pier, where they were easy to photograph.
Sea Lions
As always, I enjoy looking at wildlife...
Sea Lions
...even if there's really only so many shots of them I could get.
Sea Lions
At least I trimmed it down somewhat.
Cold Pigeons
Just a bit windy, eh?
Seagull
At least it's a change of pace.
Sea Lions
Okay, back to the lions.
Sea Lions
I'm glad they aren't loud in my back yard, but they're sure fascinating.
Sea Lions
Maybe some day I'll figure out something useful to do with these pictures.
Boardwalk
Rollercoasters and other play stuff. Not my thing, but it's good proof that I was at least there.
Feeding Frenzy
Not sure what the birds were going after, but they were definitely excited.
Pile-o-Sea-Lions
Lazing is better in groups, I guess.
Sea Lions
With just that little bit of tagging.
Active Sea Lions
They live in the sea, you know.
Debbie and Riley
She really loves her dog.
Preparing for Pictures
Riley, Debbie, and Mom, waiting for Erica to get there for the full picture.
