Seattle Bug Safari - 24 May 2007

On the way down to the waterfront, we spotted something called the Seattle Bug Safari. It was essentially an insect museum, maintained by a single guy that really enjoyed doing this kind of thing. It was a little expensive for $7 per person, but I enjoy looking at this kind of thing, so it was worth checking out. Here's a taste of what they've got.

BTW, to Danny (my brother the entomologist): I wouldn't call it a bug museum if it wasn't the name.

Seattle Bug Safari
The sign outside was a pretty good inducement to come in.
Dung Beetle
Not really doing anything, though. He needed props.
Scorpion
One of those creatures I feel an irrational fear of, it's still a pretty thing.
Big Insect
I don't recognize this off-hand; I should have taken pictures of the labels. But they're *big*!
Millipede
This turned out better than it deserved.
Another Mystery Insect
Maybe I should ask my brother for help.
Mirror Image
Whatever this insect was, it looks cool with the mirror effect.
Walking-Stick?
I don't think that's what it was, but it's a cool looking guy, eh?
Egg Sack
I believe that a few thousand praying mantises were supposed to come out of that thing later.
Hidden Tarantula
He's there, just hard to get a picture of.
