For whatever reason, Sarah has decided that she wants her cat, Quarter
Pounder (she calls him Gandalf), to be friends with Ray and Mel's dog,
Riley. This was the photo record of their first meeting, on 06 Feb 2004.
Let's just say things could have gone better.

Riley Riley's excited to be coming out of the cold and into a new, obviously exciting place...
Riley Patiently Watches ...with obviously interesting things.
No Cat One such interesting result was a hiding kitty!
Unamused Gandalf did not take too kindly to this new interloper.
Safer It just seems like putting the cat on a couch is less likely to hurt Sarah. Not that Sarah cares.
Getting Closer Just a few feet from the window now.
Hissing "GET AWAY FROM MY WINDOW!" "Hey, Mom, the kitty is hissing! What does that mean? Can I play with it? Can I? Huh?"
Rebuffed You can kinda see them actually looking at each other here...
Frustrated Cat "Stupid dog..." "Look! It's a kitty, it's a kitty, it's a kitty!"
One more round Gandalf didn't really want to give up the fight; Riley had no idea that anything was wrong.
Coming around.. ...with around meaning "in a circle", not "accepting the previous position". Gandalf is still far from amused.
Looking Worried This was Gandalf's natural state, the look of worry with a touch of fear, from the time that Riley came in; however, it's difficult to want to get that look on film. This covered it.

Eyes I like Gandalf's eyes in this shot. I liked 'em a lot.
Calming Gandalf Well, and having Ray meet him. He is a good cat, after all.
One Last Round We brought Riley into the room to see how they would fare, if Gandalf was getting better and all; he wasn't. Not really.
Watching Riley go Well, we can see how well all this worked; Riley was finally taken away, and the cat was immediately happier.
"Is he still here?" He wasn't quite ready to believe that he'd won yet.
Triumphant Cat "I chased that thing out of my house. Worship me."
Tired, Triumphant Cat "I love my Mom and I defended her from that evil dog and I will take a nap now."
Tired, Triumphant Cat II "I am cute and I am victorious and I am a cat, bow down!" He really did calm down fast, which is a good sign for future meetings. (And yes, it looks like there will be some.)
