Kids with Kangaroos Spring 1986: after our trip to New Zealand, our family took a jaunt to Australia. The most memorable part of this trip for me was playing with the animals. Here, Danny (left) and I (right) are feeding a bunch of them at a wild-animal park.
|
Danny and the Wombat Spring 1996: at the same wild animal park, they also had wombats, the mean, surly, nifty giant groundhogs of Australia. Danny got a pretty good shot with one; this shot has been on the family buffet for years...

Tim and a Lamb Spring 1992: I was a very grumpy teenager when we went to Australia. As usual, the main thing that cheered me up was playing with animals. In this case, I chased down a lamb (in NZ), ignoring the mother who was growing frustrated nearby. I'm glad I survived.

Tim and Bullwinkle 1992: the part that made living in Australia workable was my pet blue-tongue lizard, Bullwinkle. Here's a shot of me playing with him.

Tim and the Wombat Spring 1992: this is the absolute happiest I *ever* was in Australia. They had this baby wombat in another wild animal park in Australia; against all things resembling rules and common sense, I picked him up and held him for a while. He was *big*! And I never knew we had a picture of the event until now.

Danny at Wall Drug Summer 1996: while I was working at USA-CERL, the rest of the family took a trip to see Mt. Rushmore and such. Part of this trip was a visit to Wall Drug, which really excited Danny... I still haven't seen it. (Mom, Danny, and a very large concrete bunny.)
