Crystal Lake BBQ - 08 Oct 2005, 1pm

After the Uni Tour was over, we re-convened at Crystal Lake Park (where we used to run our 5Ks!) for a BBQ. Well, there were sandwiches anyway. Personally, I would have enjoyed the warmth of the fire; it was pretty cold out! The major excitement of this event was the C-U Duck Race, the lame event of yore... That, and just hanging out with old friends. Okay, fine, so the latter was slightly more important.

Playing Soccer
Cindy got right into the spirit of things.
George and Family
The first kid of our class, from one of my first roommates! (And Catherine, from 1994.)
George and Tyler
Tyler was a pretty cute kid...
George and Tyler, II
...but fairly scared of outsiders. And the light.
Admiring Tyler
That certainly didn't stop Lilly (or anybody else) from checking him out. Awww...
Rishi
Another late-comer that I was kindof shocked to see.
Warmer
Michelle was a lot happier with her sweatshirt. I certainly needed my jacket. It was cold!
Banana-Eater
I'm glad that there was some food for the younguns.
Tyler
Without the lens flare, this would have been a great shot.
Joanna
As part of a short interlude, I went over to see my old assistant, Joanna, at the Courier Cafe.
IMSA Folk
They were here for a wedding, fairly coincidentally...
Brian
I've known Joanna and Brian the longest of the crowd.
Back to the Park
Interlude over. Back to hanging out in the cold!
Duck Costume
This kid was prepared to watch his first Duck Race in style! Yellow style, that is.
Indian Dancer
For some reason, a part of this year's Ducks event was a dancing Indian lady.
Indian Dancer, II
While the dancing was very neat, I question its connection to the ducks, except in color of costume.
Watching the Indian Dancer
I don't think any of us understood what was going on.
Preparing the Lake
If you want the ducks to go anywhere, you have to start some waves in the lake.
Waiting for Ducks
WHOO! GO NUMBER 4412!
Lots of Ducks
And they just took an hour and a half to get here!
Duck-Watching
Can you feel the visceral excitement in our class?
Returning the Ducks
Or stealing them. It was hard to tell which.
Corraling the Ducks
Those are Duck Kids out there. They're kindof like Sheep Dogs, except they're kids that herd ducks.
Clearing the Ducks
With laundry baskets.
