John and Nicole's Wedding - 28 Jun 2008
John was one of my co-workers back with the TCB Group. Interestingly, he decided to get married in California in Yosemite, not very far from my new home; and he and Nicole's reception was even closer, in Hilmar, about two hours east of me. So I got to go to the first reception, the family reception, and actually see him there. It was a different kind of wedding for me - I didn't really know anybody there - but it was I still enjoyed it.

Images
Hilmar Cheese Factory
The reception took place at the Hilmar Cheese Factory.
The Greeter
Guarding the gift pile; it's nice that the building provided someone for that role.
The Couple
I hadn't seen John and Nicole since I left Champaign, it was good to finally see them.
Meeting the Guests
I knew pretty much nobody at the reception
Bridesmaid
I've been promised some names as soon as I get these pictures up; that ought to help.
Tourist Trap
The place is a bit of a tourist attraction...
Clothing Table
...so of course they sold miscellaneous clothing.
Lots of Guests
More people started coming in later.
Empty Banquet Hall
Don't worry, the people were coming.
The Cake
It was a pretty cake.
The Cake, II
And not all of it was chocolate!
Looking Downstairs
Again, naming the woman will help...
Random Tourists
I like that it was going on downstairs.
Cow Milking Machine
They had a mock cow setup; sadly, they had to hide it away for the wedding. But that didn't stop me from taking pictures of it.
More Guests
I'm looking forward to that help.
More Family
That little girl had a very, very good time.
Filling Up
There were a good number of people there, eventually.
Head Table
I recognize John's sister, anyway, in the blue dress!
Cake and Kid
That kid looks like the woman is going to take away his strawberries...
Kid and Strawberries
Strawberries are good in our section of the country, remember.
Empty Front Table
Soon, everyone will sit down... or maybe I'm just worried that I'm doing a bad job of labelling and feeling guilty about it.
More Friends
I think these were John's old college friends, but I could be wrong.
DJs
I wonder if they knew how much swing dancing John and Nicole really wanted?
Dinner
The food was tasty. This was the salad.
Dinner, II
This was the rest of it, though it was less interesting.
More Tables
Again, I need for John to help with this one.
One More Downstairs
Spices and cheeses and hot sauce, oh my!
Girl and Mirror
Or at least it looks like there's a mirror there somewhere...
Front Table Girl
She looks so small! So cute!
Front Table Girl, II
And then she looks like a regular obnoxious kid again. Heh.
Pictures of Front Table
I wasn't the only one with a camera.
Receiving at the Table
It's part of the deal.
John's Dad's Speech
Well, more of a "dinner-time!"
Cheese Gathering
It was rather good cheese.
Best Man Speech
I had to give one of these a few weeks later, so it was good to watch this for ideas.
Best Man Speech, II
He did a good job, and he mentioned Settlers of Catan. Heh.
Toast
To the new couple!
Maid of Honor Speech
I didn't have to study this one as much...
Cutting the Cake
Their smiles were genuine.
Cutting the Cake, II
It wasn't all chocolate! Hooray!
Feeding Each Other
Is this really a cute custom?
Feeding Each Other, II
I guess it depends on the people.
Feeding Each Other, III
John and Nicole certainly enjoyed it.
Post-Feeding
Back to work!
Camera Phone
Pictures of pictures, always fun.
John and Dad
I had never met him before that day, but I had heard him spoken of often enough.
Looking Outside
Yep, that's the outside! It's warm out there!
Through the Bars
Not much to say, except "cute".
First Dance
John and Nicole like to dance.
First Dance, II
Interestingly, their first dance was fairly traditional...
First Dance, III
...but there was some swinging.
First Dance, IV
You could see that they were holding back, though.
First Dance, V
They'd do it right soon enough.
First Dance, VI
Everyone was enthralled with this much dancing.
Daddy-Daughter Dance
Nicole danced with John's Dad?
Mother-Son Dance
I think this is John's Mom, anyway.
Waiting for the Dance To End
Soon enough it'll end.
John/Mom Swinging
Well, it's in his blood.
Wedding Party Dance Wedding Party Dance, II
Open Dance
The entire family ended up there at this point.
Open Dance, II
Oddly, the entire average dancing quality was higher than usual.
Open Dance, III
Or maybe I'm just making that up for rhetorical value.
Open Dance, IV
But how often do you see kids at that angle?
First Real Dance
Here's where the swinging started up.
First Real Dance, II
They're really good at this stuff.
First Real Dance, III
And they're having a *good time*, too.
First Real Dance, IV
I hadn't really had too many opportunities to see John dance before...
First Real Dance, V
...it was really quite impressive.
First Real Dance, VI
And the joy on their faces?
First Real Dance, VII
I'm glad they found each other.
First Real Dance, VIII
I'm glad they found someone that could share each other's interests.
First Real Dance, IX
I'm just so happy for them.
Dancing Families
The kids were having a good time.
Friends of Old
College friends are the best friends.
Dancing Queen
Only...7?
Girl and Mom
The Mom was so proud of her daughter.
Girl and Mom, II
Yeah, she was having a good time.
One Last Girl
I'm glad to see she had such a good time.
