This year, I was able to take the entire afternoon off to go help out with
my Dad's famous Apple Lab (as seen in previous years -
2006,
2005,
2004,
2003,
2002). Why the
change? Most importantly, this year promised to be the last year for the
lab, since the apple farm should be gone before next October. Once again,
a huge horde of students and community folks appeared to attend the lab,
and once again they had a great time, not quite understanding why we felt
a feeling of loss...

Stacks of Tables Since I arrived on time this year, I could help with setup as well as tear-down.
|
Rob the Helper My brother-in-law was able to help out too.
|
Waiting to Begin The apples weren't there yet, so there wasn't much to worry about.
|
Clean-Up Bins Eh brought the bins to throw away the apple cores and such.

Orange Apples, III These were actually some ridiculously hot peppers from Dan's garden. We got them out of there before the students did anything too stupid.
|
Cutting Apples Bernadine was happy to get to chop some apples.
|
Chopped Apples Spigold, in this place; I like them.
|
Pictures of Me I think Rob got these pictures? (Dan, Tim, Anna)

Early Students A few students were tasting things before the class started.
|
Kirby and Mariya Enter I don't know that I'd met Mariya before this point, and didn't really expect to take a picture of the two of them when they came in, but, hey, it worked out!

Dad and Reporter The News Gazette reporter always makes a point to come...
|
Waiting for the Lecture Oh, students, you look so bored even when you're reasonably excited!

The Hordes As always, there were a lot of people in that hallway.
|
The Swarm It was actually better than most years, because I managed to convince a fair number to start at the end and/or go outside for a bit.
|
The Quiz Everyone takes the apple grading more seriously because they know they're theoretically being graded on it. It's a good ploy.
|
Still Chopping The initial chopping was only the beginning...
